  • 6 large bell peppers, any color
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the bell peppers and cut the tops off. Remove the seeds and membranes from the inside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Break it into crumbles as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the cooked rice, marinara sauce, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until everything is well combined.
  5. Stuff each bell pepper with the sausage and rice mixture.
  6. Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.
  8. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of each pepper.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
